While events across the UK are showing that #wewillgather has the potential to help local people change the places they live, it’s great to have some political endorsement.

The formal launch of #wewillgather was held at the Houses of Parliament on 15th October, at an event sponsored by Simon Danczuk, the MP for Rochdale. Enthusiastic speeches from hotly-tipped Labour MP Stella Creasy, the Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd, former Conservative minister Tim Loughton MP and former Labour minister Hazel Blears showed that the idea is widely supported.

Representatives of UK charities were also in attendance, from the Round Table to Volunteering England and Toynbee Hall to Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre.

Here at #wewillgather HQ we’ve always said that what we’ve created is a neutral platform, open to all and available for everyone. It’s great to see politicians working together to support us.
